Wildfire/Sulphur

The series Wildfire/Sulphur is inspired by the intense fires that have occurred in recent years in various parts of the world, their flames fanned by climate change. I am interested in the simultaneous feelings of loss and awe that are present in these disasters, as well as the way they upset the calm of pastoral scenes when they are in the distance. I use a combination of photos, personal memories, and descriptions as the starting point for each piece, such as my mother's description of the sky as "hanging low and yellow" as a fire approached her neighborhood.
